Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday directed the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to complete all road restoration works before June 15.
Reviewing the progress of HUDCO and ORR projects at HMWSSB, the Minister complimented the officials for conducting third party audit of road works through NGOs and appreciated the water board for addressing the grievances lodged by consumers online.
He instructed officials to make best use of technology in sewer lines maintenance and operation. “If need be, seek the help of IIIT and T-Hub experts,” he told them.
The officials were asked to do away with manual scavenging and enquired about safety provisions and measures being followed for workers welfare.
Laying emphasis on usage of solar energy, the Minister asked officials to explore possibilities of setting up solar panels on reservoirs and open places.
He also directed them to submit a report on feasibility of installing sewerage treatment plants near nalas for filtering murky water before releasing the same into nalas.
Instructions were issued to HMWSSB to complete the construction of rainwater harvesting theme park by July. Officials were directed to create facilities and construct park in a way, which will motivate children and youngsters in water conservation.
